Four Harrow Beijing students, Hank (Y8), Yang (8), Mike (Y11) and Jason (Y11), have recently travelled to Mahao Middle School in South Guizhou to help the local students with their studies.
Hank from Year 8 warmly encouraged the local students to be happy when in classes instead of feeling stressful.
Yang energised the class atmosphere by playing a clever counting game to enhance recall.
Mike and Jason cooperated in class and built up friendships with the local students with activities like self-introduction. The students all shared the knowledge and learning methods gained from Harrow Beijing with the local students by holding English lectures. In the singing competition, they encouraged the local students from the Hmong ethnic group to sing their traditional songs, and the Harrow students followed by singing the Harrow Beijing anthem. Their singing resounded in the Southwest mountain village.
During their time in Guizhou, our students have been immersed in the local students' life. Their approachable characters and humorous teaching styles not only attracted the local students, but also received respect from the local teachers. The leadership that these four Harrow Beijing students have shown through their charitable volunteering has also shaped them into young teachers that are popular to the local students! Harrow Beijing is proud to see students showing their leadership in different disciplines, and we encourage more students to develop their leadership for the future.
