If music be the food of love play on’ Twelfth Night

Yesterday I enjoyed a truly inspiring afternoon. Firstly, there was a fabulous performance by some of our gifted A Level and GCSE musicians. We moved seamlessly between Chopin and Schubert before enjoying 'Vivre' from 'Notre Dame de Paris' & ‘Someone Like You’ from ‘Jekyll and Hyde’.The Upper school audience and I were captivated. The students’ level of poise, confidence and talent were a joy to behold.

This was shortly followed by the Year 11 GCSE drama groups ‘Things I used to have’.  The performances were bold, courageous and thought-provoking. This was also the first time the students have been able to perform with a live audience and they rose to the challenge.

Harrow Beijing is committed to a holistic education in which the pupils are encouraged to develop their natural talents. We also use our Harrow values to encourage our students to take courageous steps such as trying a new musical instrument or performing in front of their peer group.

The immortality of Shakespeare and Chopin through their creative talents is also a reminder that we as teachers have a responsibility to feed young minds with creativity and ensure our students have every opportunity to flourish.
