Sanaa Rehane Waahibi

Back in 2020, I made a promise to my family and friends: “I am going to China to teach for two years, just two as I don’t think I would assimilate well into the culture gap and being far away from home on my own”. I was looking for a short-term adventure, but it has turned into a transformative journey that has now extended to my fifth year.

What began as a leap into the unknown has evolved into a profound learning experience, both personally and professionally. The city is a vibrant hub of culture, history, and innovation. I was also fortunate to have crossed paths with extraordinary colleagues within Harrow, with whom I forged strong bonds that have evolved from professional relationships to genuine and cherished friendships.

The decision to stay is a testament to the incredible warmth and hospitality of the Chinese people, the truly amazing students in their dedication to education and their thirst for knowledge and the unique opportunities for growth that this experience has offered. Beijing City and Harrow Community have become my second home. It’s been an exciting and rewarding chapter in my life, and I eagerly anticipate the continued adventures and challenges that lie ahead here.
