Feast of Well-being|Harrow Beijing Unveils “Exquisite Bites, Balanced Life” Food Project: A Table of Flavours, A Gathering of Minds

Harrow Beijing – Exquisite Bites, Balanced Life

Launch of AISL Harrow Food Project

On September 19, the AISL Harrow Food Project made a vibrant debut at Harrow Beijing.

As a key milestone in the group-wide rollout of the initiative, Harrow Beijing introduced the programme under the theme “Exquisite Bites, Balanced Life”, in collaboration with world-class chef Paul Yen. Together, they presented a series of premium, health-conscious dishes blending diverse cultural flavours with high-quality ingredients.

With a long-table tasting event at its core, the project embraced the philosophy of “Excellence on the Plate”, opening up new possibilities for school dining and marking the start of a meaningful journey that connects flavour, health, and education.

At Harrow Beijing, we believe education extends far beyond the classroom. Every mealtime is also a learning opportunity – an invitation to grow. The AISL Harrow Food Project is more than a culinary upgrade; it is an important step in our holistic education journey. Through scientifically designed nutrition, internationally inspired menus, and meaningful engagement from families and students alike, we aim to bring every Harrow student a dining experience that is not only healthy and delicious, but also warm, inclusive, and empowering.

Chief Operating Officer of AISL

Ms. Clare Chiu

At the launch event of the “Exquisite Bites, Balanced Life” AISL Harrow Food Project at Harrow Beijing, Ms. Clare Chiu, Chief Operating Officer of AISL Group, stated:”The AISL Harrow Food Project reflects our unwavering commitment to excellence in school dining. As the first educational group to systematically launch such an initiative, we have worked hand-in-hand with internationally awarded chef to create menus that are both nutritionally rich and globally inspired. This is not only a transformation of what our students eat – it’s the beginning of a lasting, meaningful culinary memory for every child.”

She further shared:”Academic achievement is only one aspect of education. Daily nutrition plays a critical role in a child’s overall development—supporting physical growth, mental focus, and emotional wellbeing. Through this project, we aim to strike a balance between health, flavour, and cultural identity, and to create a unique food experience that every Harrow student can call their own.”

For this launch, Chef Paul Yen – armed with 19 years of global culinary experience – curated a menu of 20 all-new dishes. Students embarked on a global tasting journey without ever leaving school.

Chef Paul skilfully blended Eastern and Western ingredients and techniques, ensuring that each dish preserved nutritional value while carrying cultural meaning and warmth.

To enhance interactivity, a tasting and evaluation station was set up at the event. Guests of all ages scored each dish based on taste, nutrition, and presentation, turning the experience into a joyful collaboration between food and education.

“Among all the dishes I tried today, my favourite was the roast chicken with honey mustard sauce – the sweet and tangy flavour was such a pleasant surprise!” — Nina C.

Empowering Growth
One Meal at a Time

Chief Operating Officer of AISL

Ms. Clare Chiu

Strong academic performance is only part of a child’s journey. What truly sustains their growth-mentally, physically, and emotionally-is the food they consume every day. The Food Project was born from this belief: to offer students a high-standard nutrition system that supports their holistic development.

Clare emphasized the importance of home-school collaboration throughout the process. From recipe development to feedback collection, students, parents, and teachers are invited to co-create Harrow’s evolving “memory menu.” Suppliers, meanwhile, undergo standardised training and ongoing review to ensure every dish meets the highest quality benchmarks.

Looking ahead, the project will continue to grow, with new menu sets including 20 regional Chinese dishes (such as Cantonese and Sichuan cuisine), as well as Japanese and Thai-inspired options. Students across AISL Harrow schools will vote for their favourite meals, which will be compiled into a collective, ever-evolving AISL Harrow Recipe Book- creating a truly multicultural, sustainable, and participatory dining model.

Executive Director of AISL

Ms. Valerie Chiu

Healthy eating is more than a nutritional intervention – it’s the cultivation of a lifelong habit, and a vital tool in nurturing well-rounded students. Exposure to whole, unprocessed foods from a young age builds not just stronger bodies, but sharper minds and more sustained focus.”

The Food Project is a form of taste-based cultural education. With flavours representing the UK, US, Italy, Korea, Thailand, and more, students expand their culinary horizons while learning to appreciate and respect global diversity. By using plant-forward and sustainably sourced ingredients, the project also helps students think about food responsibility – planting early seeds of awareness around ecology, leadership, and social impact.

With every thoughtfully prepared meal, we’re shaping future citizens who are not only healthy and informed, but also culturally sensitive and socially responsible.

At Harrow Beijing,

education now comes with flavour.

One dish at a time,

we are redefining school dining

with purpose, warmth, and global vision

turning every meal into a meaningful

part of a Harrovian education.
