Harrow Beijing inherits the House system of Harrow School in the UK. Each semester, we organize students to conduct a variety of activities based on their Houses, including sports competitions, music contests, academic challenges, etc., aiming to cultivate students’ sense of collective honor, belonging, and a spirit of competition. Among them, the sports day has always been one of the most eagerly anticipated events.

In Lower School, physical education teaching centres on fundamental movement skills, engagement, and fun. We emphasize basic motor skills like running, jumping, and throwing, while also integrating life skills such as communication, social skills, and teamwork. Through collaborative activities and group exercises, students learn the importance of effective communication, cooperation, and empathy.

During Sports Day, Lower school students showed outstanding athletic skills in individual events like sprinting, long jump, and javelin, while also displaying teamwork and fellowship in group activities such as Sack Races, Wacky Waiter and relay races.

In Upper School, physical education emphasises skill and technique development across diverse sports and activities, prioritising physical fitness, health promotion, and teamwork. From Year 9 onwards, the curriculum integrates sports theory, leadership training, and individualised fitness objectives to prepare students for more advanced challenges and opportunities in sports and beyond. The focus extends beyond physical prowess to encompass qualities like resilience, respect for others, and leadership, fostering well-rounded individuals who are prepared for success in all aspects of life.

During Sports Day, Upper School students competed in Shot Put, Javelin, Long Jump, High Jump, 100-meter sprint, as well as in a House Shuttle Relay. Additionally, they engaged in novelty challenges like Centipede Race, Water Pipe, Gaga Ball, Sack Races and a Mysterious Relay. Through competitive sports, they honed their skills, maintained competitiveness, and upheld the sporting spirit of Harrow.

At Harrow Beijing, we offer a diverse array of extra sports opportunities to enrich students’ experiences. Alongside our Academy sports like Football, Swimming, and Volleyball, we provide additional options such as Badminton, Table Tennis, Water Polo, Martial Arts, and Athletics. These offerings cater to varying interests and abilities, ensuring every student finds an avenue for physical expression and growth. Furthermore, we offer student leadership opportunities in coaching, media, and refereeing, allowing students to develop leadership skills while contributing to the sports community. Furthermore, we also provide students with opportunities to participate in international sports competitions such as FORBISIA, competing alongside students from other top international schools in Asia.
